Information Collection and Use
When using Type App, you agree to our collection, transfer, processing, storage, disclosure and other uses of your information as described here. If you have any questions or comments about our policy, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What sort of information do we collect?
Information you provide us
We ask for certain personal information when you register for TypeApp (either in the app or on our website) or if you correspond with us, like your first and last name, e-mail address or phone number. If you input your phone number to receive information from us, you understand that standard SMS rates apply. If you email us, we may keep your message and contact information so we can respond to your request. We use this information to operate, maintain, and provide to you with TypeApp’s features and functionality.
TypeApp is designed to help you manage your email account with other providers, like Gmail. When you link your email accounts (provided by third parties) to TypeApp, you give TypeApp permission to securely access your information contained in or associated with those accounts. If you link your third party account to TypeApp, that third party may also pass certain information along about your use of its service. While TypeApp usually does not store your password to these email accounts, the service may securely store some emails on a temporary basis in order to deliver them to you as quickly as possible and keep track of your deferred messages.
TypeApp sends push notifications to your mobile device when it has an update and when you have a new message. You may turn these off at the device level by following the instructions on your device, but please be aware that if you do, you will not receive any future alerts.
TypeApp provides the ability to interface with your phone’s contact list (e-mail addresses and names) in order to add email recipients easily and securely. You might be prompted for permission within the app before TypeApp can access your contacts. We will not use this information for any purpose other than to provide the TypeApp service to you.
TypeApp stores information locally on your device, like your most recent emails, snoozed emails, recently archived emails and emails you’ve put in lists.
We obtain customer testimonials on our web site from public sources, which may contain personally identifiable information. To request removal of your personal information, contact us at email@example.com.
We may use the information we collect or receive to communicate with you directly. For example, you may receive emails from us containing company updates, promotions, marketing, or special offers. We may also keep track of how you interact with links in these messages. We do this to be sure our communications and our products get better over time. If you’d rather not receive these emails, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the unsubscribe link located at the bottom of each communication or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We also use your information to send you TypeApp-related emails (e.g., account verification, changes/updates to features, technical and security notices) – these TypeApp-related communications are important, so you cannot opt out.
Photos you take or attach in TypeApp may contain recorded location information. If you’d rather not have location data associated with your photos, please consult the documentation for your mobile device’s camera feature to disable it. Some of the information TypeApp uses to communicate with your device – like its IP address – can be used to approximate the device’s location. This information may be used to administer, analyze and improve TypeApp. If you’d rather not have TypeApp use your information for these purposes, please contact us at email@example.com.
Analytics for Web and Mobile
We use web and mobile analytics software to measure traffic and usage trends and to help us better understand the functionality of TypeApp on your phone. The web tools collect information sent by your browser, including the pages you visit and other information that assists us in improving TypeApp. The mobile software within TypeApp may record information such as how often you use the application, the events that occur within TypeApp, aggregated usage, performance data, and where the TypeApp application was downloaded from. We use this information only to administer, improve, monitor and analyze the use of TypeApp.
When you access TypeApp on a mobile device (like a smart-phones or tablet), we may access, collect, monitor or remotely store device identifiers (such as a “UDID” – a small data file associated with your mobile device which uniquely identifies it). This file stores data about your device’s hardware, operating system or other software and data sent by TypeApp, and conveys information about how TypeApp is used. This device identifier may persist on your device to help you log in faster and enhance your navigation through TypeApp. Some features of TypeApp may not function properly if this device identifier is impaired or disabled.
Changing or Deleting Your Information
If your information changes, or if you wish to discontinue use of TypeApp, you may update or delete it by visiting your account settings within the mobile application or by emailing us at the email address listed below. In some cases we may retain copies of your information if required by law. If you have questions on how to change or delete your information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. We will respond to your access request within 30 days.
We will retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services contact us at the email address listed above. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Sharing and Disclosure
We will never share, rent or sell your information to third parties outside Blue and its group companies (including subsidiaries and affiliates) without your consent, except as noted below:
- Information you share with others: TypeApp lets you share information with others, for example, through emails. Remember that when you share information via email, the recipient or recipients are responsible for keeping it private and respecting whatever intellectual property you have in that information.
- Service Providers: We engage third-party business partners to provide you with TypeApp and to perform functions and provide services to us, like Amazon for storage and Mixpanel for analytics. Those business partners will be given limited access to your information as is reasonably necessary to provide TypeApp.
- Compliance with the Law: We may disclose your information if we believe it’s necessary in order to comply with the law, such as to comply with a subpoena, regulation or legal request, respond to a government request, to address fraud or security issues, to protect the safety of any person, or to protect our own rights or property.
- Anonymized Information: Should we need to share data about our usage with third parties (such as investors or partners), we will aggregate it and strip it of all personally identifiable information.
Security is extremely important to us. We use industry leading security practices to preserve the integrity of all your TypeApp data. For example, when you transmit sensitive information and when you send and receive emails, TypeApp encrypts the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Blue is not responsible for the functionality or security measures of any third party. If you have questions about this feel free to contact us at email@example.com.
In the event that any information is compromised as a result of a breach of security under our control, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and notify those individuals affected.
Our Services are not directed to persons under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to remove such information and terminate the child’s account. If you learn that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
